The Federal Trade Commision charged another fraudulent marketer.
According to the FTC, consumers paid a Florida based company thousands of dollars to patent and market their inventions based on bogus “success stories” and testimonials promoted by the Florida based company and the company did not deliver what they promised.
Not only the company in question is in trouble for not delivering what they promised but for using fake customer success stories. Testimonials, endorsements or customer success stories must be honest and not misleading.
Additionally, if there’s a connection between an endorser and the company being promoted that consumers would not expect and it would affect how consumers evaluate the endorsement, that connection should be disclosed.
- Don’t use fake testimonials
- Deliver what you promise
